Art and creativity have always been an important part of my life, having drawn and painted ever since I was able to hold a crayon or paintbrush. For me, nothing compares to the satisfaction of seeing a blank canvas transformed into a creation filled with color, light, depth and design. My influences are many and diverse: from artists whose paintings grace the walls of the world's finest museums to those whose art hangs in the local coffee shop; by architecture in cities and countries old and new; by all colors and shapes that surround us in our everyday lives. I often draw on unlikely arrangements of design and color - getting inspiration from a cereal box label, a china dish design, a living room in a magazine, or a beautiful sunset - anything that is visually appealing and exciting. My work generally follows abstract impressionism. It is non-representational artwork which may give the impression of something - a landscape, a figure or shape, or may just be a pleasing arrangement of colors. I work with acrylic paints and various gel mediums to achieve a sculptural quality. I love texture and experiment with various tools - palette knives, brushes, rags, or any other item that will produce an interesting effect.
